About

Happiness Now? — SCREENING: ‘Body consumed: identification and appropriation in contemporary artists' videos' Anetta Mona Chisa & Lucia Tkacova, Johannes Evers, Oriana Fox, Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen, Niklas Laustiola and Nadja Verena Marcin The tensions created by the imperatives of 'belonging', 'being' and 'becoming' often propel a subject to consume a ready-made cultural representation of identity. But the imagery consumed can often lead to a person becoming entirely consumed by the representation they seek to exorcize. To mark the end of the exhibition Happiness Now? we have selected videos by international contemporary artists who have chosen to incorporate the absurdities of a society obsessed and consumed by culture, art history, pornography and body image. The curators Giulia Casalini and Diana Georgiou will open with an introduction on the selected films.
