On the 27 March, The Brick Lane Gallery presents our second Contemporary Painting exhibition for 2013 as part of our Art in Mind series for contemporary and emerging artists.
The exhibition will feature paintings by Per Andersen, a graffiti painter from Copenhagen and founder of the artists group DADAN 66. His paintings are created in the moment of spontaneity which explore themes of social inequality, racism and political oppression.
Also featured is Heading for her Future by artist Benny Brimmer, who uses the medium of painting to describe the emotions of a nine year old girl eager to grow up.
Surreal works by award winning artist Christine Connelly who explores the human figure set in unexpected unusual contexts, will be juxtaposed with Gillian McCusker’s exploration of aging through the textures and contours of skin. Similarly, Chantal Goraieb uses facial expressions to represent the depth of the emotions of her subject in her paintings.
Finding beauty in a contrasting subject matter, is Julie Dumbarton’s original colourful landscape scenes depicted through the artists unique take on the impressionist style of painting.
Art in Mind | Contemporary Painting is a free exhibition and open to all. It promises a range of works which represent the best of contemporary and emerging painters from the UK and overseas.
Curated by Tessa Yee.
You are invited to join us for a glass of wine on the opening night Wednesday 27th March 6 pm - 8.30pm
