Have you seen the green?

Photography by Jan J. Klos
An exhibition curated by Franco La Russa

30th March - 5th May 2013
Private view: Friday 29th March 7pm - 9pm

HAVE YOU SEEN THE GREEN? is a new photography series by emerging artist  Jan J. Klos.
Exploring the problematic relationship between man and nature, the exhibition is a striking
collection of images that examine the natural world ripped-up, displaced and existing in
man-made spaces.
In spite of our move from natural environments to congested cities, we have brought nature with us – or, at the very least, allowed some memory of it to flourish. A potted plant provides homely comfort for some; a giant tree stands proudly in the grounds of others. In all cases we exert our power over nature as best we can – tearing it from the ground to imprison in vases; trimming and cutting it back; forcing it to grow bigger and brighter.
But, left unchecked, nature quietly threatens to once more overtake us in a revolt that aims to destroy all we have built.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE GREEN? exposes the complexities of man’s relationship with the natural world and finds that it is just as much rooted in life and nurture as it is in death and
destruction.
