'Journey to the centre of colour' a second Term Project with St Pauls CE Primary School!

About

As part of the Chinese Art Centre's continuing START education programme; Year 3 and Year 4 Students from St Pauls CE Primary School in Salford are currently working together with local artist Sally Gilford to create an exhibition of colour and celebratory energy. Inspired by the work of Christine Wong Yap, students will be creating decorative items such as flags, bunting, mobiles, posters and postcards using pattern, text and bright colours to be displayed in our Main Gallery Space. Sally Gilford is part of screen printing collective One69A based at Islington Mill, Salford who regularly participates in educational activities. For this project Sally will lead the St Pauls students in a series of workshops screen printing onto found materials; transforming unwanted items into beautiful works of art. Through the use of recycled materials Sally hopes the students will gain insight into how materials that have been cast aside can be given a re birth and new lease of life. We can't wait to see all the results! The Start project at Chinese Arts Centre is kindly funded by Children & the Arts (The Prince's Foundation).
