About

Exhibition | 26 April - 25 May FREE Nottingham Playhouse foyer spaces A series of community-led workshops, debates and exhibitions inspired by The Kite Runner, exploring the innocent voices often lost in wartime, suitable for ages 14+. Kite flying is an important part of Afghanistan culture, popularly known as the Gudiparan bazi. Kites are viewed as things of beauty and kite fights are an exhilarating sight to behold. International Artist and PhD student Rhiannon Slade will be working with 100 young people from Nottingham to document their hopes and aspirations for the future, encouraging them to design and make their very own symbol of hope in the form of a kite. These will then be displayed in the Playhouse's foyers during the run of The Kite Runner. Working in collaboration with Gavin Rogers and Martha Glazzard from Nottingham Trent University, Slade will uncover the stories, reflections and hopes for the city of Nottingham. www.the-cutting-room.org rhiannonslade.co.uk/practice/freedominair #FreedominAir
