About
Born in 1932 and brought up in Glasgow, James Morrison graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1954. His core painting method of utilising thinned down, very liquid paint is more akin to a watercolour technique than to oil painting. This manner of working developed early and has remained central to his work throughout most of his painting life. This retrospective exhibition features works ranging from 1950s pictures of his home city, Glasgow, to more recent landscapes inspired by rural and coastal Scotland and trips overseas. Morrison's works have been bought by the Royal Family and by J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter novels, as well by numerous museums and corporate and private collections around the world.
