Casting directly from real objects, Kathy Dalwood inventively combines modern materials with the tradition of the plaster bust to create her unique sculptural characters. Their remarkable costumes — constructed from materials as diverse as model buildings, haberdashery and plumbing and electrical parts, as well as lace, fabrics, buttons and braids — reference classical and contemporary architecture whilst also displaying the influence of the world of extreme sculptural fashion. This large-scale installation in the Soane Suite at Pitzhanger Manor will see her characters enjoying a luxurious banquet, with everything from exotic fruits to decanters of wine transformed into bright white plaster.
