Open call - 2013 Programme
Open call for the gallery’s inaugural programme of exhibitions, projects and events in 2013. We would like to hear from Artists only for Exhibitions, Artists and Curators for Projects and Events.
Deadline ongoing, selection for the first part of the programme from mid December 2012
Exhibitions
Artists will be invited for solo or small group exhibitions, for realisation of projects and exhibition of new work. We are particularly interested in work which is progressive, transgressive or innovative. We also have a particular interest in supporting work which is non commercial or which may be difficult to exhibit elsewhere due to size, material or installation time needed, but this is not an essential requirement for application. Submissions are open to early - mid career Artists as well as established artists with a particular reason for wanting to exhibit at this time in this space.
Applications - by e-mail, subject ‘EXHIBITIONS’ and your name.
Please send - links to your website/ other online hosting, a brief description of the works in the body of the e-mail, and a CV. Please state whether you would like to be considered for a solo or group exhibition.
Projects and Events
We would like to provide a platform for experimentation, realisation, research and collaboration for both Artists and Curators. Our intention is to provide a space for a number of events and short projects from 1 day to 1 week. These may include but are not limited to, talks, seminars, groups, performance and sound events, collaborations and short exhibitions. We are open to series as well as one off events, and proposals that cross over with other art forms including music, theatre, dance and literature.
Applications by e-mail - subject ‘PROJECTS AND EVENTS’ and your project or event name.
Please send - a brief written proposal, max 1 page, links / images as required, and a CV.
Summit Gallery is an Artist led gallery, event and project space opening in January 2013. It is a 1,200 sq ft space on the fifth floor of a former Victorian chocolate factory, in Queens Yard, Hackney Wick. The space is kindly provided to the gallery by Mother Studios.
Summit Gallery will work in partnership with artists and provide support in installation, invigilation and marketing by our team of volunteers. We also intend to work with associate curators to provide additional curatorial support. The gallery is currently operating without a budget. We will be submitting applications for funding but we can’t guarantee that we will be able to provide any budget for exhibitions at this stage.
