If you source or buy images from libraries and agencies and are uncertain about legal issues or copyright, then this course is for you. You will find out about many aspects of the industry from the role of the picture researcher through to terms and conditions of image use, administration and record keeping, copyright law and model releases. You'll also cover the importance of visual image, authenticity and picture sources, captions, reproduction fees for picture use. Other specific topics include negotiating and clearing rights and the work of BAPLA and the PRA. The course is suitable to anyone involved in sourcing and supplying images for any publications. It will also be useful for photographers wishing to place their photos into a photo library who need more information on copyright and understanding how photographs are researched After completing the course you will be able to: Negotiate and clear rights with greater confidence Have a deeper understanding of legal issues and terms and conditions of use Develop and apply your own system of administration and record keeping After completing this course you may be interested in Digital Workflow for Professional Photographers. Level No special skills are needed. However, an interest in imagery and an ability to think laterally and good organisational skills are an advantage. Tutor Sally Cole has worked as a photographer and illustrator's agent, she has also run her own photographic studios and established and managed photo libraries and agencies. Currently a freelance consultant, picture researcher, editor and lecturer, she is working to formalise the status of picture research as a recognised profession.
