About

Pontus Carle (b. 1955, Sweden) is a contemporary artist living between Paris and Berlin. After studying lithography and painting at the Beaux Arts in Paris and in Malmo, Sweden, Carle lived in New York between 1980 and 1989, where he began to exhibit his work. He has lived and worked in Paris and Berlin since 1991.

His work is exhibited widely in Europe and the United States, including most recently at the Match Artspace, New York (2008), Grafiska Sällskapet, Stockholm, Sweden (2010), Galerie Charlot, Paris, France (2010 & 2012) and Galleri Jan Wallmark, Stockholm, Sweden (2012).

Carle is represented in numerous museums and private collections in Europe and in the United States, including Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA, Deutsche Bibliothek, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, The American Scandinavian Foundation, New York, NY, USA, Chase Manhattan Bank, New York, NY, USA, Columbia University, Special Collection, New York, NY, USA, Nürnberg Institut für Moderne Kunst, Nürnberg, Germany and the BNF, Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, France.
