"NOSCE TE IPSUM - Know Thyself"
About
This November international artist Lorraine Clarke and some 40 guest collaborators explore the link between magic, medicine and religion in a presentation of her art works inspired by ancient amulets to reproductive cloning. Nosce Te Ipsum presents installations, soundscapes, animation, mixed media works, video, mime, performance and poetry.Lorraine's works on show range from large installations to small scale, finely crafted collections. They are reminiscent of objects associated with ancient rites and traditions whilst also having direct relevance to contemporary medical practices, referencing current scientific research and ethical and social issues.
Other artists taking part in the event include Brian Catling, animator Kate Sullivan, Chilean mime artist Ricardo Gaete, poet Jon Gershon, performance artist Lee Campbell and many others.
There will also be gallery talks by Lorraine and, special events most evenings 7:00 - 9:00pm.
