Join us for an open discussion on: “What does the future hold for composers in the Middle East?” on:

Tuesday 6th November 2012, 7pm

Chairing the discussion will be Prof. Peter Wiegold and Oliver Butterworth, Co-Directors of the Brunel Institute for Contemporary Middle Eastern Music.

They will be joined by four acclaimed Lebanese contemporary composers:

Bushra El Turk

Abdalla El Masri

Houtaf Khoury

and Toufic Succar.

The discussion will cover the development of orchestras and chamber ensembles in the Middle East with particular reference to Qatari, Jordanian, Lebanese, Egyptian, Syrian and Omani symphony orchestras, and also the teaching of music composition in Middle Eastern Universities and Conservatoires.
