Jason Taylor - Everyday Objects

About

Imagine having to make something new every-day for a whole year, this is the task designer Jason Taylor set himself in 2012. Jason creates new and inventive design objects using everyday household items to make and inspire his work. Well-known iconic designs he has created include giant scrubbing brush benches and simple yet effective table lights made from cheese graters. His range of lighting and furniture has been seen around the world, from leading art galleries to household name high street stores. For his new project Everyday Objects, Jason set himself the mammoth task of creating new objects from everyday items, producing something new each day throughout 2012, posting images of his creations as he goes along on his website www.everydayobject.wordpress.com. Scouring hardware stores, pound shops and supermarket shelves, Jason has used the cheap household items we use everyday to make colourful and innovative prototype designs. Although only a small proportion of Jason's daily objects are actually functional, the aim is that they will inspire his design work, leading to new and innovative ways of working with objects around us. Jason's favourite objects from the project, and photographs and videos of the process will be on display alongside more worked-up designs that have resulted from the process.
