About

Over the last 25 years Fiona Rae has established herself as one of the leading painters of her generation with a distinctive body of work, full of restless energy, humour and complexity, which has set out to challenge the modern conventions of painting. Rae draws her influences and ideas from a huge selection of sources, such as graphic novels, Japanese anime, the painterly splashes and drips of Abstract Expressionism, and artists as wide-ranging as Albrecht Dürer and Philip Guston. The exhibition brings together paintings executed between 2000 and 2011, a period when the artist was making dramatic changes to her practice.
