About

Since starting life on the 22nd Septemeber 2011 the Curious Duke Gallery has reached heights above and beyond what others expected. Initially starting as a pop up gallery Curious Duke set out to represent the then 20 artists with their online company Premiere Art in a 3 month pop up shop on Whitecross Street (just off Old Street). Although fighting against the angst of being able to sell a luxury brand in continual fall of the country's economic state, Curious Duke Gallery exhibitions and Artist proved popular to the public and coupled with an accessible and non-elitist atmosphere Eleni Duke (founder of the Curious Duke Gallery) had found a gap in the market. Eleni states ' people are crying out for an alternative to Ikea and Habitat. Somewhere local where they can buy a piece of original and affordable art without an intimidating atmosphere and the ridiculous price tag.'
Since the pop up days Curious Duke have now gained a plethora of talented emerging artists, including talent spotting Nathan Bowen who was recently featured on the Urban Art Challenge on BBC apprentice 8. Within one year Curious Duke Gallery have been awarded stands at competitive art fairs and have gained recognition with reputable companies whom they will be working with in 2013.
'Our biggest fight is against convenience ' people are drawn to companies that offer convenience such as the big furniture stores or the companies that rank number one on Google, though dig a little deeper and there is a much more personal and enjoyable buying experience.'
Curious Duke Gallery will be celebrating their first birthday on the 20th of September. Showcasing past and future artists that Curious Duke Gallery have worked with. Please come a long and celebrate a business which has blossom through austerity.
