About

An exhibition of the art works of David Shadbolt and Lucy Mellor. This collaborative show combines the serene and impressionistic paintings of David Shadbolt with the erratically arranged and anatomically considered monoprints of Lucy Mellor's birds. David Shadbolt graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2003, and has since exhibited all over London, including in the BP portrait awards at the National Portrait Gallery, The Mall Galleries and the Kings Palace Gallery. This year, he received the Welwyn Trophy for his portrait entitled 'Vida' Lucy Mellor progressed from a Fine art Degree at the Slade to a postgraduate course at the Princes Drawing School. Since graduating, she has exhibited in London and Israel. After creating diverse works of art such as ‘The Garden', Lucy has begun to focus on the Pigeon as her subject, ‘My first attempt to examine this family was Pigeon Piece it was very exciting to make and grew bigger and bigger — I loved finding more and more colourful and rare pigeons. Whilst at work on this I started to notice the London pigeons more, and that just within these motley flocks there can be much variation and beauty.' The art works will be on show over two floors at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery (adjascent to La Galleria Pall Mall) from 11th-21st September 2012, 10.30-7pm Monday to Friday, and 12-4 Saturday.
