Join us for an evening of discussion with Tomorrow People 2012 artists on their collaborative works

About

Artists from the current show working collaborativley, will show and talk about their work. This will be followed by an informal discussion on their ideas and working methods respectively. This will form part one of a two part series of talks / debates on the exhibition. For these special events the gallery will open from 6pm - 9pm. Supported using public funding by ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND Artists: Fabio Lattanzi & Haydn Jones Two bin bags lie dormant until awoken by their behavioural algorithms. Once activated they exhibit a variety of different actions, working in concert, alone and periodically returning to a static and suspended state; awaiting the next instruction from their self-directed system. The bags' quotidian appearance and variable state of flux allows them to go unnoticed in plain sight; or they might catch attention in viewers' peripheral vision. Fabio Lattanzi & Alicja Pytlewska The Four Sisters was created as a contemporary take around the symbolic world of myths and fairytales and their role in our post-modern society. We collected the historical data of the share prices of the four most influential financial banks, Barclays, HSBC, RBS and Lloyds going back in time, as much as the data were made available to the public. We then screenprinted all data on newsprint, one by one and by hand, in a long process that underlines the role of physical labor and the economy of time. In doing so we achieved what it would have become the fibers of the cloak, skin of an idol left empty inside. Adam Dembski- Bowden The Addition Series documents the unannounced gifting of owl themed presents from the artist to his grandmother, who suffers with dementia. Dembski-Bowden has been caring for his grandmother for several years; the series began in March 2010 and has continued to the present day. Using the traditional image and text performance documentation technique, Dembski-Bowden questions the ethical nature of an artist or an artwork. He also highlights the vulnerability in the lives of dementia suffers, with their atrophied memory and mind they are often unable to notice subtle changes to their surrounding environment. https://www.facebook.com/events/272633789510091/
