About

Japanese woodblock, or mokuhanga, is a non-toxic printmaking technique that has a great variety of beautiful effects, ranging from delicate washes of transparency, to bold vibrant colours. With traditional tools, wood and paper, learn how to carve and print your own monochrome and multicoloured pictures, and bring a new twist to old printmaking traditions. The course fee includes a set of carving tools and hand printing disc (baren) which enable you to continue your printmaking at home. If you have the following items then please bring them along- a teatowel, some colour pencils, some cheap brushes, a couple of jam jars or yogurt pots, a water spray bottle and some watercolour paints or gouache paints in tube format.
