‘Opening of two new exhibitions, Supercomputer and FOIST'

About

Jem Finer, renowned artist of Longplayer and Score For a Hole In the Ground will be working at Aid & Abet through July and August developing plans for supercomputer an ambitious new public artwork for Cambridge CB1 station area, due to be installed in 2013. For the exhibition launching on 6th September, Jem Finer will activate the Back Gallery at Aid & Abet through the construction of a large and beautiful diagrammatic three-dimensional thread drawing to the scale of the proposed supercomputer, which will be the dimensions of a shipping container and reminiscent of mainframe computers. ATOI (Amy Thomas and Oliver Irvine), an exciting emerging duo gaining critical acclaim will be transforming the Aid & Abet warehouse space through a series of destructive performances, destabilising controlled situations and structures. They will be creating a huge performative sculptural installation incorporating architectural chambers, casts, wooden structures, film and photography during an intensive residency period starting on 23rd-27th August. This will be interspersed with a new performance as part of The Tanks at Tate Modern on 2nd September 2012, before the artists return to launch FOIST with us on 6th September.
