The Strand Gallery is proud to present THIS IS WILLIAM BLANCHARD; a selection of recent works by London based artist, William Blanchard. Following on from his recent shows at Stephen Webster, Los Angeles this is his first show in London since his sell-out solo exhibition at Assembly in 2010. Building out from the legacy of Paolozzi, Jasper Johns, Rauschenberg, Peter Blake and Richard Hamilton via Wallace Berman and Joseph Cornell, Blanchard brings his distinctive rock and roll flair to the form. Blanchard’s new works continue his exploration of the semiotics of Pop culture through assemblage, reconfigured ready-mades and collage; resulting in his most impressive collection to date.
