Primarily working with oil on canvas, Martine is interested in exploring the abject in relation to the human body through paint and surface. Working from the notion of the abject as opposed to, rejected and other than the I, Her interest lies in using paint to test the boundary between the two. She finds skin to be particularly exciting, working with it as the physical element that segregates the self from the other, as well as the potential container for both
