An exhibition by children from Myatt Garden and Beecroft Garden primary schools.
About
What happens when two colours have a dance? When Turner becomes a lampshade? When a line takes a trip somewhere and gets back home after lunch? When Yinka Shonibare meets Jackson Pollock?
This exhibition features unusual and compelling art from two local Brockley schools: Myatt Garden and Beecroft Garden, including sculpture, painting, photography and textiles. The work by children's aged 4 to 11 is a wonderful collection of ideas fused with different art forms. The art you will see here is rich and vibrant. When children's curiosity is encouraged to shout out in a creative environment, using starting points such as science, nature, cultural diversity and references to other artists (to name but a few) the result is like a carnival of many colours, textures and interesting shapes. The children's experiences of making enables them to develop a fresh understanding and relationship with all things tactile and visual as they discover the physical world and all its hiding places!
Children become empowered and richer for these experiences, tapping into their own personal sense of adventure - and sharing it with others - as they find their voices to then speak out and take ownership of their place in the world.
