EC1M 4DS Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes Craft Central Network member price: £6.00 Non-member price: £6.00 Celebrate Clerkenwell Design Week and experience the wonderful views of the city from the rooftop of Craft Central's historic Victorian building in the heart of Clerkenwell. Discover the area's fascinating history, insightfully delivered by London Historian and designer maker, Jane Young. Jane will commence with a brief outline of Early Modern history in Clerkenwell to illustrate how the area became established. Continuing with its development as a residential and then later industrial area during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, populated with artisan trades, detailing famous residents and noteworthy buildings. Concluding with an outline of how Clerkenwell has transformed into the design district it is now with reference to the establishment of the Clerkenwell Green Association and later Craft Central. Duration approximately one hour with time afterward for questions and discussion.
