Cityscape Paintings

A new exhibition is about to open at R E Bucheli Gallery entitled ‘Cityscape Paintings' by Brian Elwell. His recent work is inspired by the rapidly changing urban landscapes of London, New York and other cities, and his intention is to convey the sense of excitement engendered by conditions of light, space, scale and reflection resulting from the changing environment. The process of his work can be seen in a short Powerpoint display at the gallery, where methods and materials that engage a new generation using photoshop as an exploratory tool are explored, without leaving the conventional use of brush. His work also integrates other basic forms such as printing, stencilling and paint spray, which he sees as important in order to evolve and produce vibrant and excellent work.
