Taylor Wessing and AOP award-winning photographer Jim Naughten will talk about his stunning work.

About

Best known for his acclaimed series ‘Re-enactors', Naughten will present work from this as well as his latest series on Namibian tribe members, ‘Hereros', at the event, a collaboration between Second Look and the RWA. For 'Re-enactors', Naughten photographed some of the thousands of people who step out of their daily lives to transform into historical characters from the First and Second World Wars and re-enact battles and drills on the beaches of Kent every summer. In Naughten's series 'Hereros' each image, a portrait of Herero tribe members of Namibia, reveals a material culture that harks back to the region's tumultuous past: they wear Victorian era dresses and paramilitary costume as a direct result of the region's early 20th century German colonization and subsequent conflict. www.jimnaughten.com Advance tickets available from the RWA on 0117 973 5129 or in person Second Look is a volunteer-run association dedicated to promoting creative photography in Bristol. It organizes public events such as the regularly held TalkPhoto evenings. 'TalkPhoto presents: Jim Naughten' is the first of three special TalkPhoto events held as part of the Bristol Festival of Photography.
