About

With LOW DRY HOT, 401contemporary dedicates a second solo exhibition to the work of Nadja Frank (*1980). Where the Carrara marble quarries formed Frank's focal point and action space for her first show at the gallery in 2010, LOW DRY HOT's genesis took place during a recent visit to the Death Valley National Park. In this confrontation between immensity and minuteness, between fixity and formlessness Frank experienced boundaries, both as an artist and a human being, but also the firm will to extend them.à‚  LOW DRY HOT expresses the first externalizations of this discourse. Miniature landscapes, shaped by a series of sandboxes with sculptures, express Nadja Frank's explorative thoughts in the realm of dimensionality and lead to questions concerning the interrelation between vastness, open space, Nature on the one hand, and confinement, indoors, the Artist on the other.
