New Creatives

Held at Aspex in partnership with the University of Portsmouth CCI SPACE Offsite. New Creatives is an annual exhibition project that showcases the work of young people from seven further education and sixth-form colleges in the Portsmouth region. The project was born in 2010 as part of the Creative Campus Initiative, a consortium of universities in the South East region responding to the Cultural Olympiad, and is led by the University of Portsmouth's Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industies in partnership with Aspex. Every year the University of Portsmouth and Aspex jointly commission three professional artists to deliver workshops in the seven colleges with the aim of inspiring young students to develop their creativity for a multi-disciplinary exhibition open to the public. New Creatives, now in it's third year, encourages an exchange of ideas and a ‘visual correspondence' between the university, colleges and Aspex resulting in the development of co-working for a variety of projects such as the Cultural Olympiad creating a legacy of cultural partnerships.
