About

Join British artist Suzanne Treister and art critic and man-about-town Adrian Dannatt for a digressive exchange of ideas covering themes drawn from Treister's expansive cross-media project, HEXEN2.0. Topics covered may or may not include: the Macy Conferences, the rise of cybernetics; alchemy; systems of surveillance and self-management; reworking the Tarot; the Internet; understandings of the term ‘conspiracy theory'; science fiction novels; psychedelia; behaviour control drugs; US government experiments in the 20th century; the unwritten histories of technological discovery; key cultural theory and philosophical texts; the transformation and control of civilisation; anarcho-primitivism; transhumanism; the counterculture; and other elements informing HEXEN2.0‘s encyclopaedic knowledge system. The artist will be available to sign copies of the HEXEN2.0 book and tarot deck after the event, with both titles offered at a special exhibition discount through PAPERWORK Bookshop. This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition Suzanne Treister: HEXEN2.0/Literature, which will be available for viewing prior to the start time of 6.30pm. The event is free but seating is limited.
