Mamma Andersson is a leading contributor to the recent resurgence in painting as a contemporary art form. Her paintings are figurative and fuse the painting styles of landscapes and interiors. Thought of as ‘the painter’s painter’, Andersson directly references other painters. There is a strong design element in her interior paintings and often areas of canvas are left blank, adding a dreamlike quality to the work.
