About
The Bee Library is a new project by Alec Finlay, comprising a collection of 24 bee-themed books, launched to coincide with World Book Day 2012.Once Finlay has read each book, they will be transformed into nests for 'solitary' or 'wild' bees found at YSP, forming a sculptural installation on a walking route around the lakes and woodland. The Bee Library at YSP is part of a wider project by Finlay to build a global bee library.
Texts gleaned from the selected volumes nutrify an ongoing poem. The first libraries are being installed at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, May 2012, and the Sydney Biennale, July 2012.
