Contemporary Turning Exhibition

The 77 works in this show, by 27 local, national and international artists, were selected from a nationwide open submission. Several members of The Worshipful Company of Turners are exhibiting here. Many of the pieces on display walk that delicate tightrope between art and craft, a recurring leitmotif at One Church Street Gallery. Turning is a métier in which artists have two taskmasters — the aesthetic and the technical. Pieces selected for this show had to be technically perfectly crafted and, at the same time, no degree of craftsmanship would give free pass to a piece that was not also beautifully designed. For that reason, visitors are in for an unexpected treat".
