Tim Harrisson THE OLDBURY CHAPTERS Joanna Still HOLDING SPACE

About

In his abstract landscape drawings from Oldbury Castle and the Cherhill Downs, Tim Harrisson incises paper turning up pigment trails of blue, red and ochre as a plough furrows up the soil. His lines chase the rhythms of Wiltshire's geology, ancient civilisations and the trace of man's labour. His sculpture using Wiltshire limestone and Cararra marble are forged together into contemporary Menhirs. The white sheen of the marbles surface is in perfect balance with the gritty taupe of the limestone and sandstone.

A collection of shallow dishes by Joanna Still, thrown, turned, fired and smoked to produce a finish of subtle hues with organic marked surfaces. Her polished pots are starved of oxygen at low temperatures to induce a dark smoky surface, a technique widely used in many cultures and by traditional makers.
