VESTIGES at the London Art Fair

About

VASILIS ASIMAKOPOLOUS | TOM LOVELACE | TINE SEMB | ANDREW SALGADO Vestiges is a four-person exhibition for The London Art Fair that explores concepts of absence, reality, and reflexivity, with an emphasis on artistic narratives that refer to their own process of creation. Each of the artists exhibited consider complex relationships that arise through each of their relationship to the history and narrative within the work, but also consider how this informs and alters the techniques employed in his or her own creative process. The sculptures of Vasilis Asimakopolous incorporate unconventional media to create a vision of reality that is both tongue-in-cheek and deeply disturbing. Andrew Salgado's haunting portraits are born from autobiographical narratives that have been subverted in a method that prioritizes elements of painterly abstraction. Using the found-object and the industrial landscape as his source, Tom Lovelace's photographs record ephemeral environments and happenings that the artist creates solely for his camera lens. Tine Semb's large-scale photocopied photographic works question the status of 'fine-art' while investigating how humanity's view of nature has changed in lieu of technological processes that present new methods of representation and perception.
