About

As a painter, Leonardo da Vinci aimed to convince viewers of reality in what they were seeing, while still aspiring to create ideals of beauty. He created exquisite portraits and in his religious works, conveyed a sense of awe-inspiring mystery. Lydia Bauman, art history lecturer from the National Gallery, London, presents, ‘Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan: An illustrated introduction to the exhibition. Lydia Bauman is a Polish born artist and art historian. She was educated in Britain, completing a BA hons in Fine Art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and an MA in History of Art with Distinction at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. She had since exhibited extensively in Britain and abroad and her work is held in prestigious corporate and private collections worldwide. She has worked as art critic for BBC Radio External Services and Radio Free Europe, as well as translator and art history lecturer for diverse adult audiences, notably at the National Gallery, London. She is currently completing a book on the Great Themes in Art. www.lydia.bauman.com
