Adrián Navarro: In & Out

About

60 Threadneedle Street Art Space is pleased to present 'In and Out', a new exhibition of work by London based artist Adrian Navarro.

The gallery space is dominated by Navarro´s recent paintings: the Ring Cycles. His latest project strengthens itself along those particular creative lines that establish connections and distensions among the pictorial medium, reality, architecture and perception.

The paintings describe implosions of a colorful organic matter; contorting and trapped inside a floating toroidal volume as it rotates weightlessly in the space in progressive stages. The arrangement of a sequential progression renders this three dimensional geometric form with an almost-continuous account of its locomotion, creating an animate painting installation. The process of looking at the Ring Cycles becomes a dynamic event that embodies movement and the passage of time.

'In and Out' continues Navarro's pictorial investigation delving into the systems of perception of images and space. If, on the one hand, Navarro's pictures cry out their two-dimensionality, then on the other they show themselves as a window to a piece of weightless space, to a virtual and illusory landscape where geometric volumes demonstrate their time and three-dimensionality in a rhythmic, musical floating. This very direct relation of his works with space, and the sensation they emit of being able to be passed through, has a clear relation with the artist's architectural training, with the most intimate function of that discipline, that of creating habitable spaces.
