Gandalf Gavan: Knots

About

An exciting opportunity to hear artist Gandalf Gavan explain the techniques applied within 'Knots', his new solo exhibition at October Gallery, London. Born in 1975 in Berlin, Gavan lives and works in New York and Mexico. He studied at the Repin Academy of the Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Bard College and the Columbia University in New York, where he also worked as an adjunct professor of art, teaching printmaking. This is Gavanà‚'s premiere London exhibition. A formalist, Gavanà‚'s new works project dazzling energy, subverting the history of portraiture. His prolific use of media - painting, glass, neon, anamorphic mirror, ceramics and weaving, is influenced by Mexican tradition. The exhibition continues until the 3rd of December, 2011.
