Recent Works by David Brett
In February we will welcome Wimbledon-based artist David Brett for a selling exhibition of his recent works. David has been painting professionally for two years, and has a strong client base that stretches over the Channel to Paris. Alongside his painting career, he is also a journalist for the London Evening Standard.
Working mainly in acrylic, David's landscapes are vibrant, lively and packed with colour. Drawing influence from Turner and Whistler as well as contemporary Mallorcan artists Torrents Llado and Camargo, he combines layers of glaze and impasto to create works that sometimes recall the fluency of Van Gogh and structure of Cezanne. The result is a dynamic and original style, bursting with energy.
David's paintings bring a contemporary edge to the British landscape tradition and are vehicles to express mood, colour and light. His subject matter also includes the urban landscape; capturing London and the Thames in bright canvases filled with a sense of movement.
His works have recently appeared in exhibitions at the McNeill Gallery, Hertfordshire, and the open show at the Wimbledon Art Studios in May.
David Brett in the Granary Art Gallery runs throughout February.
