Space Perception

About

The photography exhibition Space Perception (part of the The photography exhibition Space Perception -part of the East London Photography festival- brings together the finest works from recent graduates of Central St Martins and current MA students of the London College of Communication. The exhibition showcases work on the theme of space. And seeks to question our understanding of our relationship with space; the crux of the exhibition is the interaction between people and their surroundings and how this informs the construction of spatial identity. What defines our perception of space? For some, it is their own personal touches — decoration and ornaments — that shape their environment. For others, architecture and design are the key elements. The philosopher Alain de Botton notes that the dimensions of a building have a direct impact on the contentment of its inhabitants; suggesting that at base humans are spacial creatures; susceptible to subtle changes in environment, and defining the limits of our experiences on the spaces we choose to inhabit. Artist: Magali Avezou, David Calverley-Morris, Alex Davies, Christine Donnier-Valentin, Richard Mulhearn, Gabriela Fabrowska, Alexander Page, Jo Phipps, Martin Robin
