Darshan Singh Bhuller - Carvaggio: Exile and Death
9. Nov - 12. Nov 11 / ended The Place£17 (£14 conc) / £15 (£12 conc)
Starts: 8pm
Darshan Singh Bhuller’s latest dance theatre work is inspired by the life and work of the 17th century master painter, Caravaggio.
Caravaggio: Exile and Death takes the audience on one man’s search for forgiveness and redemption, following a life fascinated with youth and sexuality, violence, solitude and love. Scarred by imprisonment and the Catholic Church’s dismissal of his works, Caravaggio lived a painful and dramatic life. Combining highly physical choreography with stunning projections and a beautiful soundtrack, Bhuller has created a show that depicts the tempestuous story of Caravaggio’s life and art.
Darshan Singh Bhuller was a longstanding member of the world-renowned London Contemporary Dance Theatre from 1979 to 1994, before going on to become an award winning choreographer and filmmaker. For over 30 years he has been at the forefront of dance, creating and directing new work for a host of international companies
