About

Dancing Borders is the latest film work by artists Zoe Walker and Neil Bromwich documenting an explosive cross-disciplinary live event that uses dancing, marching and pollination to transform the psychology of place. Set in the context of the much besieged border town of Berwick 'Upon-Tweed, steeped in a history of battle and conflict, still palpable in its atmosphere and physical nature. Hear Walker and Bromwich collaborated with Mobius Dance Theatre; to re-embody this contested territory with new histories of openness and procreation. Recruiting a dance troupe from the local population, and creating a new ritual for the town that stands in contrast to the proliferation of military parades.

The film is accompanied by Walker and Bromwich's sculptural anti-war armory Siege Weapons of Love, a series of inflatable sculptures that graft together potent symbols into hybrid forms; weapons of war morph into flowers resulting in oddly sexualised objects that render the machines of violence impotent.

Zoe Walker and Neil Bromwich are an established collaborative artist team, their work has been presented at Tate Britain, South London Gallery, the Baltic, Turner Contemporary, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and other international venues in Europe, Asia and the Pacific region. A monograph on their work is published by John Hansard Gallery and is available through Cornerhouse Publishing. Walker and Bromwich are represented by Houldsworth Gallery London.
