Join us for a one-off film screening of Les Blank's Burden of Dreams (1982). This documentary examines the numerous adversities which were faced and, against the odds, overcome by the film maker Werner Herzog, in the production of one of his most ambitious works Fitzcarraldo. Blank's documentary does not only track the mechanisms that Herzog employed, in order to complete the film, but it also reveals footage from various scenes which, for different reasons, were not used in its final production. This screening is part of the Jerwood Makers Open talks and events series and is intended to provide some further context for Keith Harrison's work Float, which takes direct inspiration from Herzog's epic Fitzcarraldo.
