About
Alek OUntitled, 2011
By popular demand, we present an opportunity to see this new work; Twenty-one umbrellas found in various cities where the artist has resided and visited, each have been unpicked of their original stitching and sewn, in chronological order in a historical timeline.

Modular construction ' a performance, 2011
Dealing with the intersection of instruction and action, with a particular interest in facilitating and highlighting the spectator's role in the development of subject and object. The performance invites a group of 'helpers' becoming the joints, the connections between wood and intersection. When does object become body? When does body become object? The performance has a strong link to time, re-collecting and memory. In many ways, this performance replicates a specific behaviour, such as making an object, writing a text, presenting a motion or performing an action.

Continuum, 2010
A film screened on a continual loop that depicts a moving landscape; tracing and capturing the movement of a grey floor or street pavement. Its colour represents the surface that we all navigate, by foot or wheel. If we were to imagine a city as a horizon, we would all navigate across a global timeline.
The projection of Continuum is pertinent. Its constant movement of the ground is lifted upon a wall or screen, thus imposing the opposite of its capture; our horizontal line is now made vertical. An area that is moved across now falls at the speed in which we navigate things, yet we are taken from a happening to viewing a motion within a static state. Being still and observing movement injects potential.
