About

Susan Collins' Fenlandia has developed since May 2004, when webcams were installed in various rural and technological locations in Silicon Glen ( Scotland ), Silicon Valley (M4 Corridor) and Silicon Fen ( East Anglia ) - including nearby Sutton Gault.

Collected over a day long period, webcam images are recorded one pixel every second. The result is a series of gradually unfolding, classically romantic landscape images of strange, haunting beauty harvested and encoded over time. At Babylon Gallery's riverside location the changing effects of light on the surface of the water seen via the pixel-landscape process prompt the viewer to look again at this apparently familiar scene.

Images from the Babylon 's webcams will be fed live to a large screen in the Gallery, showing alongside a sequence of framed prints from the Fenlandia series. You can see live images on www.susan-collins.net/fenlandia from August. Visit www.babylongallery.co.uk for more information.
