About

El Lissitzky - The world is understood through myths. All meaning comes to us as stories. We can take control of these stories to create our own meaning and form new myths. The gallery is the detritus of society and we sit within it, pull things into it, re-mould them and model them into objects, scenarios and events that can act out new histories and possible futures. The Artist-Curator - The choice to create and perform narratives stems from an understanding of the gallery as a flow of spatial, cumulative and phenomenological fiction; for others it is a medium that offers the opportunity to articulate ideas unable to be shared in other ways. Narrative is the life of the gallery. Narrative drives social cohesion. Narrative is inevitable, undeniable, and we must use it knowingly to open up the function of the gallery. The gallery is part of the production of social formations and its actions either render art translatable, and so secure its survival, or surrender it to oblivion.
