Twenty two glass makers from the UK present cutting edge work in blown glass, each of whom employ imagination rather than function as the driving force for their pieces. Exhibits include glass balloons by Joanna Manousis and a glass hand-grenade by Layne Rowe - a playful yet politically-laden representation of a weapon. A glass wind instrument by Kate Williams is meticulously created in blown, lamped-work glass; this ensures the level of precision and accuracy demanded to enable it to be blown to create music. The atmosphere, sounds and visual spectacle of the glass studio are brought into the gallery in a newly commissioned film by Federico Urdaneta that explores the work and practice of glass artists Sheldon:Cooney. A further film by Neil Wissink is featured exploring the physical nature of glass blowing. A Crafts Council Touring Exhibition.
