About

Aether and Hemera is an interdisciplinary collaboration between architect Claudio Benghi and artist Gloria Ronchi whose practice explores the aesthetic challenges of light and its creative potential to express ideas, emotions and encounters. Specifically commissioned for the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery, The Colour of Phi explores the concept of the Golden Ratio, a mathematic and aesthetic choice used by musicians, architects, artists and designers but operates as a universal law in many natural phenomena including flower petals and pinecones. Coinciding with the exhibition of Nerys Johnson's work in the adjacent gallery space, The Colour of Phi invites us to compare and contrast different artistic apporaches to the expressive possibilities of colour and light.
