About
By the Grace of God follows the tragic odyssey of the character Jürgen whose attempts to make contact with his imagined mother, the Queen of England, leads him to a sense of personal crisis, of aporia. Petrova's film portrays Jürgen as a tormented outsider, ill at ease with the travails of contemporary life, who is destined to be 'a man of the time', a nobody searching for his illuminated heroes. The evening will also include a round table discussion between the artist Ralitza Petrova, Elena Crippa and Gordon Shrigley.Ralitza Petrova recently exhibited work at the Pompidou, Paris, the Cannes Film Festival, the San Sebastian International Film Festival, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the Bargehouse Gallery, London and at the Freunde der Deutschen cinema, Berlin. She was born in Bulgaria and lives and works in London.
