Le Disque, Frederic Acquaviva - An music event staged simultaneously in 8 different countries

The Music
Le Disque is a global music piece of 8 parts, each part has a duration of 40 minutes. This work explores combinations between the vocal the instrumental and the electronic. The harpsichord has been chosen to represent the whole musical World. This contemporary composition uses the harpsichords’ baroque provenance and counterbalances it with voice and contemporary electronic music.

Vocal - Acquaviva spent a 2 month residency voluntarily locked in “The Dungeon of Mistress Cindy” in Paris, whilst on his residency he recorded the voice of a voluntarily tortured German subject. Acquaviva uses these recordings, his own voice and recordings of elderly women in a Psychiatric Hospital for the Vocal sections of this work.

Instrumental - Acquaviva choose to play the harpsichord for the first time, these recordings were then re-worked using a computer. Please note that the whole music is based on the absence of dynamics of harpsichord, seen as a global model for the piece, meaning in each part of 40 minutes there is either total silence or extreme levels of sound.

Electronic - Here Acquaviva works with what he calls “unlooped loops” the break core loops were cut to avoid any beats, therefore only having impulses. He plays a specially designed light sensitive electronic device. This piece is based on circuit bending and creating sound through a device that responds to gesture through light detection.
In the 8 differnt venues curators and artists will introduce the concert - Acquaviva will introduce the work in New York.
Charles Webber will introduce the work in London at The Old Police Station in Deptford.
