About

The Freud Museum London, in association with the British Croatian Society, are delighted to host an illustrated talk by Lady Aurelia Young on her father, the sculptor Oscar Nemon, his early life in Croatia, his work with Sigmund Freud and the friendship between the two men, and his portraits of other analysts, such as Ernest Jones and Donald Winnicott. Born in Croatia in 1906, sculptor Oscar Nemon came to England as a refugee in 1938 after living and working in Vienna and Brussels during the 1920s and 1930s. In Vienna he sculpted Sigmund Freud from life. Nemon quickly established a reputation in Britain. Working from a studio outside Oxford for forty years, amongst his many sitters were Winston Churchill, Eisenhower, Lord Montgomery and Queen Elizabeth II.
