Charles Hadcock: New and Revisited Sculptures

About

Charles Hadcock makes sculptures from cast iron, large and heavy industrial forms that seem to defy gravity. His sculptural vocabulary is based in music, poetry, the pause or break found in both art forms, as well as in mathematics and finely-tuned engineering. But he also embraces natural forms, the eroded surfaces of rock faces and the fossils found within them, made new by unlikely combinations of disparate parts. Naturally monumental or architectural, his vision for sculpture is large and ambitious. However, his eye for detailing and finish is such that minute scrutiny is as rewarding as the sight of towering and deceptively light works of art that balance in fragile equilibrium.
